There are 5.6 MILLION vacant homes across the U.S. according to a LendingTree study 🏘️
Examining the 50 largest metros, LendingTree found an average vacancy rate of 7.37%. So, does this debunk the “housing shortage”? Not quite.
“Millions of vacant homes don’t mean an oversupply,” says LendingTree Senior Economist Jacob Channel. Many of these homes are vacant for reasons such as being listed for rent, not due to disrepair or abandonment, reflecting a more nuanced housing landscape.
