I received an unsolicited sunrise pic this morning from an old friend, “you’re probably up, thought you’d appreciate this!” Yes, yes I do!!
I’m on the river, fishing and having a cigar like an old lady. It’s probably the sunshine and easy morning but I’m assured that friends are some of life’s greatest treasures. Regardless if it’s for a few minutes, hours, years or a lifetime we are so very lucky to have such wonderful people in our lives. I was catching up with an old friend recently and was asked; “How are you? Are you making time for you? I know you’ve had a hard time talking care of yourself in the past. People appreciate you more than you know but you have to take care of yourself.” This is often hard for me. I am busy, like everyone, I do try and make time for me. I feel I have lots and I’m very grateful. I also feel like I don’t do enough, there are so many people I know that cross my heart and mind every day. From the friends that once were to the lady I met on the bus 20 years ago. Don’t get me started about the people I haven’t met! I’m trying to be better for me and my people. Sometimes I really just don’t know if I am making an impact. Perhaps this is what my old friend was trying to get across? I’ll leave you with this,

Perhaps it’s me but I love a place that welcomes everyone. You know the kinda place, where they say, “sit anywhere you like, we’ll be right with you!”. The one with a busboy that is quick with water and a brief hello. Where the waitress is super busy but stops for a moment, makes eye contact and ask, “whata having sweetie?!”. The old regular makes a quick suggestion. You may not of found nirvana but it’s a much needed break from the cold with hot food, good coffee and beautiful people. Perhaps we can all try and welcome people in our own way.
