It's no secret that interests rates have gone up and they can be one of the big market drivers. That being said, Austin is currently an interesting place to be - to experience a climate of increasing interest rates. Due to the increase in jobs and the economic growth factors; in comparison to other cities with the similar economic landscapes we stand out in a big way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The job influx and tech headquarters that were announced in the recent past are either still in the process of building or just recently built. Meaning that the landscape of a class A tech hub environment has yet to be fully realized. The point? Austin's growth over the last decade has been incredible, but there is so much out there that is yet to come. And In our opinion that right there is the biggest housing market driver you could ask for.

Will rates shake things up a bit? Sure, but it's also important to remember that people are still moving here. The latest issue of Tierra Grande stated that the demographics of people moving to Austin are historically younger with incomes increasing. For those that are already homeowners in Austin- equity and opportunity for moves to be made are a plus. There will always be speculation in a market like this but this market continues to be driven by true housing necessity and demand.

Long story short? Nothing stays the same forever and we can count on that. Moving forward, will the Austin market potentially look different from the last 20 months? Probably. But the market in all comparisons will likely remain historically strong because people just plain want to live here and it always helps to have jobs.
