If the LCRA and Austin City Council do not approve a winter drawdown this January, the lake will become unusable next summer.

• Huge mats of hydrilla will block access to docks, boats, and swimming.
• People will drown when they become trapped underwater.
• Homeowners will be forced to resort to herbicides to fight hydrilla — poisoning our drinking water supply and putting public health at risk.

This is not speculation. This is what’s coming if our elected officials fail to act. For decades, winter drawdowns have kept hydrilla in check. This year must be no different.
