Brentwood is one of Austin’s most revealing neighborhoods for understanding how the city’s residential design is evolving. Mid-century homes, original cottages, and modern rebuilds all exist within a few blocks. That contrast makes it compelling.
At 1706 Romeria Dr, the architecture takes a restrained approach. Instead of over-designing, it relies on proportion, light, and flow to define the experience.
When I look at homes like this, I’m not just thinking about finishes- I’m thinking about decisions. What was intentionally included, and what was left out. In modern design, restraint is often what separates ‘nice’ from ‘considered’.
