After a lot of careful consideration, prayer, and leaning into his heart, Preston has decided to attend the University of Texas at Austin to major in Economics, with plans to attend law school.🤘🧡🤘Jonathan and I are filled with the most inexpressible joy for him! 👉If you’re confused, yes- he had planned on going to Texas A&M Mays Business 👍 (amazing school) up until a week ago, but sometimes plans change and you have to follow where the still small voice leads. We are all cheering him on with our whole hearts (with horns up wearing burnt orange)! 🤘🧡🤘

P.S. I wasn’t given permission to share this publicly until today, and it’s a good thing. All of this happened in a whirlwind and changed last Thursday! Life is never dull.

It’s wildflower season in Central Texas!

This is one of the best times of the year with blankets of color filling up the sides of the highways. The Bluebonnet was declared the state flower of Texas on March 7, 1901, but choosing it was a hotly contested battle. Some wanted the Cotton Boll or Prickly Pear Cactus to be chosen, but the women known as “The Colonial Dames” won the debate and the Bluebonnet was chosen. Way to go, ladies! I love our state flower and the beauty that fills outdoor spaces each Spring! 🪻

This home stays naturally cool year-round, thanks to all the limestone (no AC needed)... it has zero visibility from the street… and comes with a rooftop that blends seamlessly into the grassy landscape!! Honestly, perfect if you’re looking for complete privacy with zero natural light (and no expensive bills in the summer!).
Did you buy it? Okay, this is just an April Fool’s post realtor style! 😅 But with our famous Texas heat, it’s not the worst idea, right? (P.S. Pics are from a home that’s actually fully underground, located in Buffalo, Texas. Pretty wild, huh?)

It’s the night of the middle school dance and Hallie is debuting her third creation! 👗🪡🧵She finished making her dress last night in the wee hours of the morning, sewing the last few stitches. Seeing her grow in her creativity and craft over the years is AWE-some in the true meaning of the word, I don’t really have words for it. Like, how does she know how to do that? I can barely sew on a button. 😂I learned long ago (before she could really talk) that once Hallie makes up her mind that she wants to do something, there is no arguing, you just need to get on board and help her make it happen. 💫And there is always magic at the end of it. ✨I can hardly wait to see the many other creations yet to be imagined! 💛⭐️🌟

Today’s Find Me Friday is likely pretty easy if you’ve been in Austin awhile. 👀 If not, you may have driven past this spot and wondered what it is- a treasure trove of whimsey, keep Austin weird charm, and other “transcendent junk.” If you’re old school Austin, you may remember its first location on South Congress, but it relocated to another home in South Austin in recent years. Even though it’s been around forever (okay the 90s), it is a must-visit for those who appreciate a quirky hidden gem and have a love of history and old things, especially if you like to browse and take your time.

Opened in 1915, the Paramount Theatre is one of the last remaining historic theaters on Congress Avenue and is a rare example of early 20th century Classical Revival architecture in Austin. 

While so much downtown has been rebuilt taller and newer, the façade and ornate interior of this historic gem have been carefully preserved. It’s proof that great architecture adds long term value to a city.

Next time you are on Congress Avenue, pay attention to the Paramount Theatre and take in the beauty of one of Austin’s treasures from the past! Styles may change, but these historic landmarks anchor a city and help preserve its culture.
