Photo of the Week: "Rough Morning at Oregon Inlet"

This is definitely a case of a picture being worth a thousand words. It pretty much tells the story. A few weeks ago the sea, as it has so many times on the Outer Banks, overwhelmed the best efforts of the boaters trying to navigate Oregon Inlet. It is tough to get through anyway, but add rough surf, shifting channels, sometimes wild weather, and the possibility of mechanical breakdowns and human error, and groundings and shipwrecks are bound to happen. There is a good reason the Coast Guard has a station right there!
