Housing scam Alert!
There are several cases of scam that we have discovered these last weeks related to housing. Here are the fake IDs they’re using, with different email addresses and houses published in craigslist and vaildaily.com.
What they’re doing apparently, is that they find out the name of real owners and real houses, then they create a fake email address with that name, and publish the houses (so when we check owners and houses, everything looks OK. Then, they provide an account number with another person’s name. We have checked the ID of that third person and it’s the same picture and ID we have received for 3/4 different group of kids, trying to rent different houses. The pictures are always the same, but names and info changes.
Always be careful when trying to rent a place if you are not in the valley and can't verify that the person renting to you is the actual owner! Ask for an ID and if the person on it looks like one of the two people below...report it to our local police department.
