Casa ZooFrida is getting a new look! “Big Red”. - our favorite wood sculpture fish by Ed Larson of Santa Fe, has been moved to Denver. We look forward to inviting you back to stay, as soon as the new floral murals are installed, along with a few other upgrades. Stay tuned for the bright fun 6-foot+ tall flowers, designed by Brazilian artist, Georgia Chagas, based in Rio de Janeiro. We hope they inspire you to create new art here as well.

Frida Kahlo's 1940 self-portrait, El sueño (La cama) — The Dream (The Bed), sold for $54.7 million at Sotheby’s in New York in November 2025. This sale set a new auction record for the most expensive artwork by a female artist, surpassing the previous record held by Georgia O'Keeffe, and established a new high for Latin American art.

We think she’s pretty incredible too!

The Mexican painter is omnipresent this year as the subject of three museum shows and an opera.

Fall is in the air! As we welcome cooler weather and watch for our network of aspens to show off their golden hues, Casa ZooFrida is ready to welcome new reservations. We were happy to be fully booked from May to September! In October, the calendar starts to open up and currently, Thanksgiving is available. Come on up and be inspired… craft, read, nap, stare at the deer, or take a little trip over to Aspen Peak Winery. You deserve a time out. Pups always welcome. Tons for kids to explore.

It might seem like a sleepy winter, but looking back at the past few months, Casa ZooFrida hosted:

- a beagle who started a band and is now known as “Deej LongWiener” - Here he is finalizing his latest song about himself.
- a stuffy wedding, where 2 dinosaur taco holders were witnessed by the dolly llamas to take forever crunch holding vows
- a paint by numbers art getaway
- a “llamas & goats in pajamas” YouTube binge watching session
