The Tanglewood Lake community is located 25 miles east southeast of Cleveland, Ohio, in Geauga County, in Bainbridge Township. A community of over some 500 homes, it enjoys all the amenities of a lake and golf course community. With an active community association, there are numerous social events throughout the year. Tanglewood Lake is located in the highly regarded Kenston school district, one o
f the best school districts in Ohio. Possibly unique in the State, Kenston's schools are together in one campus...moms, doesn't that sound wonderful? The Kenston campus presently houses the Gardner Early Learning Center (kindergarten), Timmons Elementary (grades 1-3), the Intermediate School (grades 4-5), the Middle School (grades 6-8) and the newly constructed High School (grades 9-12). A $38 million bond vote during 2002 funded in the new new High School which opened in the fall of 2006. Developed mostly during the 1970s and 1980s, Tanglewood Lake includes a variety of housing styles, including both single-family and condominiums. Besides our residents and our lake, one of the greatest assets of the community is the Tanglewood Water Division (TWD), our community water supply, which is owned by the Tanglewood Lake homeowners. Most of the homes in Bainbridge have only untreated well water and septic tank systems. Tanglewood Lake is the only community in Bainbridge with a full municipal-type water production and distribution system, a full complement of fire hydrants that meet all insurance requirements, and even a full emergency backup power system providing for uninterrupted full pressure water service. Although our water is taken from wells, the water is treated to remove iron, and fluoride for cavity protection is added, along with chlorine to protect the users. Fire hydrants are located throughout the development to protect our residents' property and to keep insurance rates down. The water billing rates by municipal water systems in Ohio are set by the State. However, our system is not covered under the State's rate-setting authority, since our water is only distributed to Tanglewood Lake Association members. This means that TWD is able to charge lower rates than the water departments in nearby cities and towns, while providing a higher level of service. Convenient access to US 422 eases commuting for Tanglewood Lake residents. Downtown Cleveland is less than 30 minutes via US 422, I-480, and I-77.
