AUTHENTICATION: Verification by the local government that another official of the government possesses a valid license or commission to perform his duties and to execute important documents. Example: Doctor, Hospital Director, Public Agency Executive, Embalmer, Notary Public. Etc.
NOTARIZATION: the act of verifying the identity of a signer on an important document at the time and place of ex*****on.
LEGALIZATION: The act of the Consulate of a country to legalize an Important document, in behalf of a citizen of that country.
APOSTILLE: As per the Convention of La Haye (La Hague Convention) the act of Verifying that the Notary Public who Notarized a document for a certain country member of The Convention of la Haye, is in fact commissioned by the Secretary of State to perform such Notarization of the Document.

A customer came to my office and asked me to AUTHENTICATE his signature. I asked him, in what capacity? He said: excuse me? Obviously, he didn't know what he was asking. To AUTHENTICATE someone's signature, the person should be an official of the government or someone that has a license, a commission, or a position in a Public Office: Doctor, Notary, Embalmer, Hospital Director, Public agency director, Etc. And the AUTHENTICATION SHOULD BE PERFORMED BY ANOTHER OFFICIAL: County Clerk, Secretary of State, etc.
