Healthy Neighborhoods and the York Road Improvement District welcome everyone to attend the York Road Colorwave Street Fest this Saturday! The event will take place from 12-4 and will feature the Bloom Bash Craft and Vendor Fair, a flower market, Kids Korner at the Govans Library , and the Lortz Lane resource row. The YOUTH RESILIENCY INSTITUTE’S Pop-up Ice-Skating Rink at Middle Branch Park is back! Join us on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 1:00pm -5:00pm for this free Winter Activation event! (Rain Date: March 7, 2026) This FREE winter event is supported by the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership and Baltimore City's Department of Recreation & Parks.

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

Free ice skating and a showcase by U.S. Ice-Skating Championship Medalist TING CUI and 2X U.S. National Medalist EMMANUEL SAVARY!

Activities including free pony rides, live music, art activities, and children's programs.

This three-day event will reactivate the front retail space of 5604 York Rd and will feature 25 local vendors that will offer items such as handmade gifts, art, candles, and specialty foods.

5604 York Rd has been a special project for the York Road community. In 2023, HNI partnered with the York Road Improvement District (YRID) to secure RESTORE grant funds through Maryland DHCD to reactivate the previously vacant brewery space by creating a vibrant retail environment for the community. The Market reflects a growing movement to rethink how vacant spaces can support economic development, creativity, and local entrepreneurs. Give to Healthy Neighborhoods Inc. and get half back at tax time with our 2025 Community Investment Tax Credits (CITCs)

CITCs provide a 50% Maryland state income tax credit on eligible gifts of $500 or more. This is a dollar-for-dollar reduction of taxes owed, on top of your usual deductions. Individuals, businesses, and financial institutions that owe Maryland state income tax can all participate.

Getting your credit is simple: make your gift by check, online at HNI’s donation portal, or approved in-kind contribution, and complete a brief Donor Form (we’ll provide it). We certify your donation to the Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development, which then sends your Tax Credit Certificate. At filing, attach the certificate and claim the credit (Form 502CR for individuals, Form 500CR for businesses/banks).
