Big news: The The Wall Street Journal came to West Baltimore, and Parity is in the story.

The headline says it all: abandoned homes in Baltimore are now being fought over in bidding wars. For years the story was that nobody wanted these neighborhoods. We never believed that, and now a national paper is reporting what our homebuyers already knew. The demand was always here.

The piece follows Alex and Saheed, who left Los Angeles after losing bidding war after bidding war, moved home to Baltimore, and bought a house Parity rehabbed in Harlem Park. One family, the whole idea: a renovated home of your own at a price that doesn't push you out.

We're building where others walked away, one block at a time.

When JPMorganChase first made a commitment to Parity Homes, there were no finished homes to point to, no ribbon cuttings, no proof of concept. Just a conviction that the vacant properties lining the streets of West Baltimore deserved better, and so did the families who had stayed and fought for their neighborhood.

That commitment helped us get to work. Today, we have completed 18 units and this year, 7 homebuyers came under contract, committing to blocks that were written off not long ago at prices they can afford in a community that is being rebuilt around them rather than without them.

Mark your calendar: Friday, August 7.

Parity is joining Cllctivly in this year's : 24 hours of giving in support of Black-led organizations across Greater Baltimore. It's one of our favorite days of the year — the whole city shows up for the people doing the work, and every gift, at any size, counts toward it. 🙌🏽

If Parity is on your list, we'd be honored. If someone else on the roster moves you, give there too. That's the spirit of the day.
And in the evening, celebrate with us at the Baltimore Museum of Industry — 7PM Elevated Access, 8PM general admission. Dress code: Summer Dandyism, so bring the color. 🌻
