I’ve been a licensed contractor here in Baltimore for a few years and a homeowner for quite a few years before that. I can say for sure that 90% of repairs to my own home could have been avoided with a little more attention to seasonal maintenance.
The problem was that I was intimidated by the list of things to keep on top of! It was so much to remember that it was much easier for me to just stick my head in the sand and hope my insurance company would take care of whatever I needed whenever it broke. Spoiler: they didn't 😮💨
