$204.8 Million. One Historic Investment in Oregon's South Coast.
The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay has been awarded $204.8 million in federal funding to advance the Pacific Coast Intermodal Port (PCIP) — the largest public investment in the project to date and its first major federal award supporting construction.
The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Grant Program, this funding will support major improvements to the Coos Bay Rail Line, including upgrades to tracks, bridges, and tunnels, along with new rail infrastructure needed to accommodate double-stack container trains.
The award does not change the project's anticipated timeline. Approximately two years of engineering, design, environmental review, and permitting remain before construction is expected to begin. While previous federal awards have supported those preliminary phases, this funding will support construction once the necessary permits and approvals are in place.
