Great news about how the city forestry division is working to protect our ash trees!

The City of Bangor’s Forestry Division has been busy inspecting and documenting City maintained ash trees with the goal of protecting them from a potential infestation by an invasive wood boring beetle, the emerald ash borer.

Part of this protection plan is to determine which trees will receive a targeted pesticide injection to protect them from this damaging beetle, and marking them to ensure our injection crews know which trees get the injections. If you see a blue or pink paint dot on the base of a City maintained ash tree, that is an indication that the tree is marked for injection.

All selected trees are linked to an internal database with specific tree numbers, and attributes for dosage calculation. Please do not inject, mark, alter or otherwise disrupt this important process. Inquiries about the process can be directed to Forestry Manager Benjamin Arruda at 207-992-4514.
