I was driving through Banner Elk the other day and noticed a sign warning of the potential for fraudulent contractors taking advantage during the aftermath of Helene.

Projects by Proxy can help. Those owners who are not here in the High Country a lot of the time can particularly benefit from “eyes on the ground”.

Good contractors often over commit their workforce and the opportunities in this environment to do that are very tempting. This can cause serious delays, additional costs and frustration for both parties.

Because of the pace of work and many contractors not having any ownership in the local market, there are often shortcuts and generally poor quality work performed. Patch it up, get paid, get outta here.

That was one heck of a storm! Helene devastated the High Country and will change the fabric of the area for years to come.
We all know there is going to be a long period of re-building for not only public infrastructure but also personal homes and businesses.
Projects by Proxy can help. Particularly geared for remote individuals who need eyes and ears on the ground, PbyP can help with major rebuilds or repairs to local business/government entities.
Resources are going to be in short supply for a long time. While Projects by Proxy cannot create new contractors/suppliers, it can help sort out options, required repairs, help lead the solutions to technical engineering related problems and just plain advocate to get your work accomplished in a tough setting.
Many transient contractors follow storms this time of year. They are not all reputable and often conduct marginal work.

Yes, you heard right! Sassy has to close and we are having great sales on our inventory. With the exception of some consignment items, everything else is 35% off!

A lot of people are getting ready to head back home, off the mountain, as schools begin to open around the country.

How’s your home construction going?

Projects by Proxy was conceived to assist owners with that exact situation. The winter here is erratic, but the one thing that isn’t is that construction often slows down as resources dwindle during the holidays, snow and other interferences. While nobody can make contractors show up if they choose not to, continuous, local advocacy and problem solving can keep your project moving along and you up to date on progress.
