Wallace's ongoing episode of "This Old House" Barnard edition Many friends requested to keep them updated on the transformation of our house...so here it is!

Hopefully it will be less boring in pictures once we get a lot cleaned up and you can tell progress. :)

I forgot to take a true before picture but got the last 1/2 of my new flower bed area weeded (mostly!) and sprinkled seeds I collected last year or have bought...for hopefully my wild flower bed!
Some perinials in there I started last year, a fern thing (I think yellow marrow according to Google when I looked it up a few weeks ago) and other wild things I didn't plant but gonna chance them for the bees! ;)
I won't be patient enough to think it is good enough this year and probably next but hopefully 3rd year will be a charm and my dream will come to reality.
Some of Jonny Curnutt's lark spur from mom's yard is already coming up throughout. Put down some seeds from Agne's flowers are sprinkled, and I added poppy seeds (bought them) that remind me of Granny and Dawn our dear friend from Lamoni.

Not thrilled it's Homecoming week and my yard will likely look like a giant bon fire pit but as Derek said "it will be okay." (But don't be confused by that last comment, Homecoming week is one of my favorite weeks of the year!!)

I was standing at the neighbors last night and REALLY LOVING how everything looks and has come together...my house looks better from their house than from my car 10 foot away from it.
There is probably a saying about missing or not appreciating what is right in front of you...but taking a step away to see the full view really did give me even more appreciation of the look that has been created from the outside.

Newest little project...getting down to the wood and will stain them. Pillars will be wrapped with stone siding.

While not planned, a blessing in disguise.
There has always been a drip at the incoming to the house water line inside the basement since we turned water on at the house. Derek had slowed it down with rubber sleeve and clamps...Wednesday he went down to tighten it because the drip had become much more consistent and while he was checking it, barely touched it...the sleeve flew off due to the water pressure and started flooding the basement. Had it happened about 2ish weeks from now, we might have had out flooring down or not been home.
So, ended up being a "just fix the whole darn line" decision. The plumber suspected by the way the yard laid there was probably a leak in the line underground too so hoping my waterbill might be slightly cheaper now (aftert this months flooded basement bill) with at least a known leak inside not being present now. :)
And, one more space in the yard to get to landscape eventually. Haha! Hoping for a wet winter to get the dirt settled (it's fine, you can cuss me now for that wish!). 😀😃🙃🙃😋
