They paid $8,500,000 for two buildings located at 259 Centre St and 261-275 Centre St along with an attached parking lot located at 19 Pearl Street. The two retail buildings that they purchased currently house a Bertuccis, Popeyes Chicken and Minifigs store at the 261-275 Centre St plaza and the 259 Centre St freestanding building houses a Starbucks. The total 2026 assessed value of these three properties is $5,221,500.

The acquisition of these three properties from Knapp Foods Inc adds to Crosspoint’s portfolio of Newton properties. Crosspoint also owns and manages:

The MOST expensive house to sell in Newton during week ending 8/12/26 was a 6 bed, 6.5 bath NEW construction home that sits on a 17k+ lot. The original house was sold “off market” to a Newton builder for $1,575,000 in 2024 and the new home was originally listed in January of 2026 for $4,850,000 and closed 175 days later for $4,400,000.

Newton Upper Falls-Pettee St, Elliot St and High St-“Then and Now”

This old aerial photo shows the Emerson School building on Pettee St which now houses condos along with the commercial block and apartment building on Elliot St which now houses Bettina’s Bakery. You can see clothes drying racks on the roof of the Elliot St building along with a trolley car making its way up Elliot Street. You can also see the Second Baptist church on Ellis Street in the distance with its four distinctive steeple spires. From Building’s of New England:
The Ralph Waldo Emerson School in Newton’s Upper Falls village was built in 1904 and dedicated a year later serving as the main school building in the industrial village. The brick school building was constructed adjacent to the Levi C. Wade School, a large Second Empire style wood-frame school constructed in 1869. The Wade School was razed for a 1950s addition to the Ralph Waldo Emerson School. The substantial school building was designed by the prominent architectural firm of Hartwell Richardson & Driver, at a time when the Upper Falls Village continued to expand due to the well-established cotton manufacturing mills and the Gamewell Fire Alarm Company. The large structure is hard to classify architecturally, as it blends elements of the Renaissance Revival, Arts & Crafts and Classical Revival styles, but with its massive chimneys, hipped roof with projecting eaves, and large arched windows, the building is an architectural statement for the relatively vernacular industrial village it is located in. By the end of the 20th century, school enrollments and consolidation of village schools saw the closing of the Emerson School, but luckily, the building lives on after it was converted to condominiums, with the 1955 addition now serving as a day care center, a senior citizen room and gymnasium-hall for the community.”
