My latest modern home listing is this gem of a time capsule in Ashton, Illinois (about 2 hours west of Chicago). Designed by the owner, Stan Griffith, for his own family, the 1954 home includes so many great materials and features, and is in mostly original condition. I just listed this super cool time capsule house in Ashton, Illinois. It's almost all original, except for things like the fridge and toilets. Original toilets are still in the basement and come with the house!

The home was designed by the owner, Stan Griffith. The Griffiths were one of the founding families of the town, and Stan studied design at the Colorado School of Mines.

The house has some really neat features like low-voltage, push-button lighting, beautiful birch paneling, cork floors, storage integrated in numerous places throughout the house, exposed Chicago Common Brick, colored wall panels in the main level bathrooms, and central HVAC (not super common in 1953, when construction started on the house).

The house is only about 2 hours west of Chicago and 45 minutes or so from Rockford, and would make a great "getaway" for somebody who wants a mostly-original MCM home.
