This past week I was invited to attend an incredible event where the talented author, Carrie Kerpen, discussed her new book The Whisper Way: The Secret Formula for Women Entrepreneurs to Scale and Sell for Life-Changing Money. It was a privilege to be in the room with so many successful and supportive business women. Such great information and insights from Carrie was shared. The energy was infectious and so powerful. At lunch we received a postcard with a photo of a herd of elephants from Ann Freeman and her team at Merrill Lynch. It talked about how the herd protects fragile new life. When the elephants give birth the herd of female elephants surround the mother to protect her and her baby as she brings her baby into the world. On the back side it talks about having to go through the herd that is protecting mother and child against vulnerability and celebrating with joyful trumpeting. This is more than instinct. This is Belief. This is Balance. This is Vision. I love days in the city. Connecting, networking, sharing ideas and thoughts on how to strategize and strengthen relationships in community and clients. We enjoyed a wonderful luncheon at Sofi’s Restaurant on Dearborn. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it for a delicious meal and wonderful hosts! I ended the day with my husband and friends, with a night at the United Center watching the Blackhawk’s celebrate a victory for their last game of the season! Life is short. Enjoy every moment with others who lift you up.

It’s been a week filled with client and partner meetings, CRE coaching, and incredible event supporting domestic violence victims and ending with collaboration over coffee with a great partner and lunch with another amazing business partner discussing collaboration together! How lucky am I to be able to work together with such wonderful people?! Collaborate without ego.

Today’s NICAR Q1 Luncheon was a great learning and networking event. We had a panel of environmental experts who answered several questions that was very informative. I took away some great information that is helpful for me to help my clients when working through a sale or purchase of industrial property. It matters who you know and who you work with in your transactions. KNOW, LIKE & TRUST. All of these are key to moving through the transaction not only for you as a client but also for us as your professional team guiding you through the process. It is essential for us to align ourselves and collaborate with the right partners in the industry we KNOW, LIKE & TRUST to ensure we can get you through the process in seemless manner.

Congratulations to my seller who was the trustee for her parent’s home. When selling a home there can be a lot of emotions along the way. When working with someone who is selling their loved ones home, it can be an added level of emotion and stress navigating throughout the process. With multiple offers, I was able to assist my seller in getting $50,000 over list price which she is able to use towards her father’s care. I am honored she trusted me to work hard and to get the job done for her. I cannot wait to see what the new family does to make this home theirs!

Last week I had an opportunity to speak as a panelist at the Fox Valley Realtor Association in St. Charles. I was asked to speak about my involvement on the NICAR BOD and share my journey in commercial real estate with many broker attendees who are interested developing their business in the commercial real estate market. I shared how I started in my CRE career and which assets I currently focus on. When I first started in commercial work I would work on anything that came to me. Through growth and development I have been able to shift to focusing on office and industrial assets with some existing repeat retail clients.
In this industry it is important to develop partnerships and collaborate with like-minded individuals.
I get to work with some of the best in the industry - leaders and mentors. I am fortunate to have people who care about my success and growth and are willing to share their experiences and expertise with me.
Who you surround yourself with matters. Working with people who have a growth mindset are the best kind of people to surround yourself with.
Never say never. If you are passionate about something in life, go out there and do it. Set your goals and live the dream!
