When we talk about things to do in Grove, FlyHome Aviation's $125 discovery flight ✈️ NEEDS to be part of the conversation.

I'm not talking from a theoretical perspective. I spent $125 for a discovery flight, and I gave the discovery-flight experience to Grove High School student Landon Sturm, who is studying aviation in school. After work on September 14, 2026, I still got to fly in the back seat while Landon and our pilot, Austin, were in the front.

FlyHome Aviation is a flight school in Grove, OK, operating out of Grove Regional Airport KGMJ. And no, you don't have to enroll in their flight school to do a discovery flight.

Let's do the math real quick. For the $125 I spent, Landon and I were both able to spend around 30 minutes in the air. In our particular case, that essentially worked out to $62.50 per person. That's a price point that could put an aviation experience within reach for a lot of people.

But it was a lot more than "just" a flight around Grove.

📊 What’s Really Happening in the Washington County Real Estate Market? | August 2026

If you're watching the Bartlesville, OK real estate market, the headlines don't tell the whole story.

Here's what I'm seeing in Washington County:

🏡 Inventory remains fairly stable.
August ended with 187 homes available for sale and 2.95 months of inventory. That's down 6.5% from August 2025, but only slightly higher than July's 182 homes.

💰 Prices are higher than last year — but relatively steady month-to-month.
The August average sale price was $271,071, up 23.66% from August 2025. But July's average was $270,483, so the month-to-month change was minimal.

That's why I like to look at the trend, not just one month's average. The mix of homes selling in any given month can significantly affect that number.

⏳ Homes are taking longer to sell.
Average days on market was 39.6 days, compared with 23.6 days last August.

But homes ARE selling.

63 homes closed in August, compared with 64 last year.

And 77.8% of August's new listings closed, slightly higher than last year's 77.1%.

What does this mean?

I don't think there is one answer for every home in Washington County.

A well-priced, desirable, well-maintained or updated home can perform very differently from a home that needs work or is competing against stronger properties.

Condition. Location. Layout. Updates. Curb appeal. Pricing. Presentation. Competition.

They all matter.

That's why whether you're buying a home in Bartlesville, selling your home, or considering an upgrade, I think it's important to look beyond the headlines and understand the market and your specific property.
