Open Range Management LLC Land management consulting, wildlife consulting, brush clearing, and controlled burning. We have over 14 years of professional experience in the field.

Our services are backed by degrees in rangeland management and wildlife management. We've conducted hundreds of controlled burns and cleared thousands of acres of trees. We are knowledgable and experienced in controlling invasive plants. We also have extensive knowledge in wildlife management and hunting techniques. We have completed numerous white-tailed deer surveys, and wrote "A Practical Guide

to Food Plots in the Southern Great Plains." Open Range Management runs a large CAT machine with a Ground Force tree saw, making us very efficient. Our prices are very competitive, especially for the equipment we run. We effectively stump treat necessary trees, and cut stumps at ground level. This is our passion, we love what we do, and we do it right.

We completed a highly productive prescribed burn for a landowner in southeast Kansas. This property had mature stands of encroaching eastern red cedar, which was reducing the heterogeneity of native habitat that wildlife and pollinators thrive in. This property will have fresh green sprouts of all kinds of native plants any day now. Native wildlife such as deer and turkey will flock to the lush growth. Northern bobwhite quail will utilize the varied structure of the plants, the seeds and the variety of insects that will utilize this recently burned site.

We conducted a prescribed burn for a landowner in Montgomery County, Kansas, with the goals of wildlife management. We use detailed prescriptions to reach the goals of our burns, safely. This is the 4th burn we’ve done for this landowner on this property.

Earlier this week we conducted a 400+ acre burn in Cowley County, Kansas as a part of a multi-year consulting/wildlife management/grazing management project. We burn when the conditions are right to reach the goals of the burn and for safety. This burn unit adjoins a state highway, therefore smoke management was our highest priority. We also chose this time of year, relative humidity and fuel moisture to get the results we wanted.

We like big adventures and certainly had one on the journey to get our oldest son his first buck! 2 seasons, 5 encounters, a miss, a non-lethal hit and one last encounter on the last day of rifle season to end the chapter on Louie but this story will be told for a long time. So thankful for the time spent hunting with the kids and the lessons learned along the way.

Spotted this old buck on public hunting feeding at the back of a wheat field before dark. Made a 250yd crawl across the field and was able to put the Cross to work, hitting him in the heart at 225yds and watched him expire. Harvesting a mature buck on public grounds is one of my favorite type of hunts😃

It’s unseasonably hot out, but the rut is just as hot. Get out there! The trail cameras are slow right now but you can bet the bucks are still there, likely tending a doe in the tall grass.
