Do you know that you can and should claim your home for homestead exemption even if you still owe a mortgage?
I overheard an elderly gentleman say he never knew. He was at the county appraisal office to file for it because he just paid off his mortgage. My heart sank. Please talk to your family and friends. Let them know that even if they still owe and live in the home, they qualify for homestead exemption.

Noting milestones and creating memories. On January 6, 2025, I purchased six live oak trees. On March 4th, in celebration of Jake, Oso, and Walter's birthdays, PermaVista, based in Brenham, Texas, planted the trees. The process took one hour and required a team of four. Given the current cool temperatures, my husband and I are manually watering the trees with 10 gallons every three days. Once temperatures consistently exceed 85 degrees, we will switch to daily watering. With luck, these trees will soon provide shade for our grandchildren.
