June is National PTSD Awareness Month 🇺🇸
Did you know that PTSD affects a significant number of our nation’s veterans? According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately 7 out of every 100 veterans will experience PTSD at some point in their lives. Many veterans have carried the weight of their experiences for years—even decades—without ever sharing their stories, all while continuing to live with the symptoms and challenges that can follow military service.
I am honored to partner with veteran service officer Joshua Morrison, whose dedication to serving veterans has helped countless individuals obtain the benefits they have earned through their service. Through this partnership, I have the privilege of meeting with veterans, conducting evaluations, and advocating for service-connected disability benefits when appropriate.
While PTSD is one of the most recognized service-connected mental health conditions, it is important to know that other diagnoses may also be related to military service, including Major Depressive Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, and OCD to name a few. These conditions can have a profound impact on daily functioning, relationships, employment, and overall quality of life.
Josh’s commitment to veterans has resulted in 305 veterans achieving a 100% disability rating, helping them access the support and resources they deserve. I am grateful to play a small role in that process and to work alongside someone so dedicated to advocating for those who have served our country.
Most importantly, veterans should know that the time they spend with me is confidential and protected under HIPAA. My goal is to provide a safe, respectful space where veterans can share their experiences and have their stories documented with care and professionalism.
This PTSD Awareness Month, let’s continue to reduce stigma, increase understanding, and ensure that veterans know they do not have to carry these burdens alone.
