When are we gonna stop acting like signing up for $80,000 of debt on a depreciating asset is some kind of flex?

I like nice cars. I’ve owned nice cars. So this isn’t me pretending everyone should drive a 15-year-old Corolla forever.

But there’s a HUGE difference between buying the nice SUV because you can comfortably afford it and stretching an 84-month loan just so it looks like you can.

That brand new Tahoe lost value the minute you drove it off the lot.

But hey, it’s got heated seats, right?

Meanwhile, somebody else is driving the paid-off Honda, putting $1,000 a month into investments, and getting absolutely zero attention for it.

No likes. No compliments. Nobody asking what trim package they got.

Give it 10 years.

One person has a driveway full of payments.

The other has options.

That’s the flex I care about.

🤦🏻‍♀️ Realtor Confession

As y’all know, I’m a HUGE supporter of home inspections.

In fact, I highly recommend them…even on new construction.

Today’s inspection reminded me that professionalism is so much more than knowing your job.

I drove over an hour to be there for my clients.

I walked up, introduced myself, smiled, and extended my hand.

It was ignored.

Not long after, he told me how much we had inconvenienced him because the inspection was scheduled for 10:00 instead of earlier.

The reason for the 10:00 inspection?

The seller hasn’t been sleeping well, and I know she’s not a morning person. We were simply trying to give her a little extra time to rest.

That set the tone for the rest of the day.

As the inspection continued, I watched nervous buyers become even more overwhelmed and an excited seller become discouraged.

It reminded me that professionalism isn’t just about knowing your job.

It’s communication.

It’s respect.

It’s educating without intimidating.

It’s remembering there are real people standing in front of you.

You can absolutely point out every concern a home has.

In fact…you should.

But there’s a difference between educating people and creating so much fear that people can’t even process the information they’re being given.

I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some incredible home inspectors over the years, and this experience was definitely the exception—not the rule.

My clients deserve facts.

They deserve honesty.

They deserve respect.

If you’re going to be the professional in the room, be the professional in the room.

That’s my Realtor Confession.
