🔵 St. George City Council Meeting Today

👉 Remember to keep in mind the distinct steps and wording the council uses. These are three very different things, but they often get blurred together online.

1.) Proposed → somebody has asked for it.

2.) Recommended → a commission has weighed in.

3.) Approved → the Council has actually voted.

As I mentioned yesterday, there are several development issues active right now — including Long Farm, Perkins Road and changes to St. George's development regulations. Homeowners in the area are invariably affected by Zoning requests in particular, so we'll pay special attention to those going forward.

🔵 St. George Development Update - Long Farm and Perkins Rd

There are two development items I'm following right now.

- Long Farm on Jefferson Hwy: A major revision to the concept plan proposes changes to land-use acreages. The Commercial/Retail/Office/Public/Semi-Public would areas would be expanded by 27 acres (+10%) and shift from the southwest corner of Antioch Road and Long Farm Rd to an expanded area on the west side of Antioch Road extending to the corner of Airline. The number of low density homes would be reduced from 531 units to 507 (-5.3%).

- 15222 Perkins Road: Approximately 2.33 acres are being considered for a change from residential zoning to business zoning for new office space. This the house/ property with the blue tarps at the corner of Perkins and Pecue Rd...you know the place :-)

Quick Opinion: I think both of these are good changes 👍. One brings more businesses without affecting current residential plans, and the other will take a blighted property and put it to good use in an already commercialized area near the Pecue interchange.

I'll continue following these through the public process and update them as actual decisions are made.
