City of Bay City Declares a Major Weather Event beginning February 12, 2025
In accordance with City Ordinance Section 102-88, the City Manager has declared a major weather event. As a result, all roadways must be free of vehicles.
BAY CITY, MICH. โ With the prediction of six or more inches of snow, the City Manager has declared a Major Weather Event beginning Wednesday, February 12, 2025. All parked vehicles must be moved by 12 PM on February 12, 2025. This declaration has been made with the consultation and recommendation of the Director of Public Safety and Director of Public Works.
All cars parked on the roadway must be moved in advance of major snow accumulations so that the plows can do their work. Restricting parking on the roadway provides clear streets for efficient plowing operations, eliminates impassable streets, avoids vehicles becoming snowed-in, and opens the way for emergency travel.
Removal of parked vehicles. After the initial notice of a major weather event has been given as provided in this section, a motor vehicle parked on any roadway within any area designated shall be removed in accordance with the following schedule:
(1) Within two hours for any motor vehicle parked on state trunk lines and streets designated as major streets by the city's street plan; and
(2) Within eight hours for any motor vehicle parked on streets designated as local streets by the city's street plan.
Per the ordinance, failure to comply can result in ticketing and towing, resulting in a fee to the owner or person in charge of the vehicle. All parked vehicles must be moved by 12 PM on February 12, 2025. The enforcement of vehicle removal will begin at that time.
