Fall has a way of slowing things down around here.
There’s less pressure to fit everything into one day. You can wander downtown, hike through the changing leaves, head out to the orchards, or just see where the day takes you.
And if you find yourself among Bayfield’s fruit farms, you might discover there’s more than apples, jams, and pies waiting for you.

When I asked everyone in our family to name their favorite way to spend fall in Bayfield, Ridge and Banks had two very different answers.
Ridge chose sailing ⛵.
Earlier this month, he and Axel spent five days learning to sail through the Bayfield Rec Center. Although the Rec Center’s classes have ended for the year, there’s still time to get out and enjoy Lake Superior under sail.
Banks, on the other hand, is a kid after my own heart. We’d both be perfectly happy if summer ☀️ lingered a little longer.
September can still bring some wonderfully warm days to Bayfield, and when it does, you’ll find us trying to squeeze in one more beach day 🏖️.
Frog Bay and Meyers Beach are two of our favorites for walking the shoreline, searching for treasures, or even taking one last dip in Lake Superior.
And if it isn’t quite beach weather? Bring an extra layer and go anyway.
That’s probably what I love most about this time of year in Bayfield.
