Breakfast this morning was a hardboiled egg (left over from Easter), 4 oz Salmon Patty (Grilled and refrigerated), and a bowl of mixed berries (that my lovely wife prepared for me and purchased from a local market). This is pretty typical for me. Lunch will be a bowl mixed greens and vegetables with egg and turkey, an apple, and a banana. Once again pretty typical.

The theme for today is that with a little preparation not much time is consumed preparing your daily fare. That is always the excuse many make when changing their lifestyle. That is why so many people like Nutri-Systems, Jenny Craig, and even Weight Watchers because they basically prepare the food and you can zap it in the Microwave.

The changeover from your old lifestyle to the new does not have to be abrupt, it can be done over a committed period of time with little energy if you plan to eat what you like. Questions of how to prepare the food and what spices might help dress it up for you are ones that we need to send to Chef Kevin. If you have questions or concerns about the how’s and why’s of food preparation don’t be shy, email them to Kathy and she will make sure Chef Kevin receives them.

Have a wonderful day, the sun is shining beautifully and we have much too be grateful for.

Continued success in your new lifestyle,

Dennis

Good Afternoon,

I hope all of you are doing well today and are progressing on your journey to a new and healthier lifestyle. We have received a couple of questions for our chef and are in the process of giving them to him for his input.

There are challenges that we all face when making change, but it is these challenges that will help us grow in our desire to change. That is what the Paleo lifestyle is meant to do, create a lifelong change in how and what we consume. As I mentioned yesterday, my major addiction is sugar and I am working on it daily. As in any attempt to overcome addiction we must find what works best for us, and an underlying aspect to this is the “want” to change that addiction.

The following is the origin of the word addiction, it is the surrender to an urge, what are you able to share that helps you get over or the surrender to that urge. What some of the authors have suggested is that you have some melons or berries because of the natural sugar that is dispersed into the blood stream. One item you probably should not have is popcorn as the starch in the corn will exacerbate the urge. Hope this helps you. Till tomorrow.

Origin:
1595–1605; < Latin addictiōn- (stem of addictiō ) a giving over, surrender.

Went for my blood work today, wanted to get as close to kickoff as possible. We will kickoff this week but will need to change the meeting date for next week. Thursday begins the Christian celebration for Easter and Friday night is the first night of Passover. We are asking all of the participants to meet with us on Wednesday at seven at CVWC. This night will be a check in to answer specific questions about the new lifestyle. I will try to talk everyone through this on a daily basis and feel free to post to this page any questions you might have. Remember we are doing this in a group format for support purposes and everyone's participation is invited. Thank you.

Three more days till Kickoff, the anticipation should be building as we move forward on this journey together. Start setting your objectives but remember do not tie in everything to a number on a scale, that is just one of the benefits. The body will eventually figure what that number should be! One of the objectives, an perhaps the most important one, My Wellness will improve!.

We also have the Paleo Cookbook here for $19.95 + tax. Questions, concerns, please feel free to give me a call. 216-364-0152.

The big week has finally come, this Thursday, March 29th, we beginning the new nutritional lifestyle known as the Paleo. Basically this means you will eat what you want in the lean protein, fresh vegetable and fruits. What you won't eat are meaningless carbs (sugars and grains) and the benefits you will obtain will be great. I personally have followed, sometimes closely and sometimes not, this lifestyle and have found it very beneficial. I had more energy, I lost inches and my clothes fit better, I felt healthier, and I felt less hungry when I followed the program. Remember this is not a fad diet, it is a lifestyle change. If you are interested in joining us, or just want information, please join us Thursday at 7 PM at Chagrin Valley Wellness Center (suite 175). Call Kathy at 216-364-0156 to reserve your spot or for more information. - Dennis
