I had the opportunity to tour the new **King Street Arts Center at 1407 King Street** this morning, and what an incredible addition to Beaufort!

Part of the developing Freedman School of Arts, Crafts & Culture campus, the Arts Center has transformed a long-vacant former public building into something completely new — working studios and showroom spaces filled with local artists creating, teaching and selling their work.

One of my favorite things about it is that this isn't simply an art gallery. You can actually walk through the building, meet the artists in their individual studios, see what they're working on and purchase their work directly from them. There's also a gallery featuring the work of more than 50 local and regional artists, along with a tea shop.

And this is just the beginning. There is already a waitlist of artists interested in studio space, with plans to expand the campus into another former public building and eventually add outdoor creative space for arts such as glassblowing.

I love seeing an old, unused building given a completely new purpose — especially one that supports local artists, brings people into this part of Beaufort and adds something genuinely different to our community.

The Grand Opening is this Friday, September 25, so if you haven't been inside yet, it's definitely worth a visit.

Because everyone loves a good before-and-after...

We had to share this one from 1411 North Street.

It’s hard to believe these are all the same dining room. From the middle of the restoration, to the finished space, to a little virtual staging to help bring the room to life.

One of our favorite things about this transformation is seeing all of those beautiful original architectural details shine again.

Fall (and those months that have an -r!) is the perfect time to plan an oyster excursion through the South. From Maryland to Alabama, there are some of the best Southern oyster regions to explore.

Getting ready this morning to head out and show houses in Ridgeland! 🏡

My clients originally started their search in Beaufort, but we just weren’t finding the right house in their price range. So I suggested we expand the search across the Broad River into Ridgeland.

Why? Because your money can go a lot further.

Buyers who are willing to expand their search can often get more house, more land, or a newer home for the same budget — while still being within easy reach of Beaufort.

And Ridgeland is definitely an area worth watching. According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau estimates, Jasper County was the fastest-growing county in the country by percentage growth from 2024 to 2025.

Which brings me to this week’s **Beaufort Beauty of the Week*... although technically, this week we’re crossing the county line!
