Military life means you get really good at starting over. New houses. New towns. New people. New routines. And then you land somewhere like Ohio and discover things that make you want to put down roots…

• The trees changing into ridiculous shades of red, orange, and gold.
• A crisp morning that somehow makes coffee taste even better.
• Fall festivals, pumpkin patches, football, and way too many trips for apple c***r.
• Neighborhoods where you start recognizing the same people walking their dogs.
• That first chilly morning when you realize, “Yep. It's officially fall.”

And maybe that's what I love most about Ohio fall.
