SHIFTING STATS

Stay-at-home orders appear to be influencing the decision to put properties on the market. The number of homes listed for sale fell 13.1% for the week ending March 21 and 34% in the week ending March 28 according to Realtor.com. Home price growth slowed during the same two weeks to 3.3% and 2.5% year-over-year respectively.

MAKE YOUR OFFER STAND OUT!!

Want to make sure you stand out from the pack? Here are three ways to do it:

Include a personal letter to the sellers with your offer. Tell them why you love the home and just how much it means to you.

Get pre-approved for your mortgage loan first. This shows sellers you have the financial resources to follow through on your offer.

Avoid low-ball offers. Bid at least the listing price (and be ready to go higher if there's a bidding war).

Tax season is officially here. Want to reduce your bill and, better yet, increase that refund?

These homeowner tax deductions may be able to help:
Mortgage interest. You can write off the interest you paid on your mortgage loan for the year (on up to $750,000 of mortgage debt).
Property taxes. As long as you itemize your return, you can deduct your property taxes, too.
Points. If you bought a home last year and paid points, you can write off the cost of them on your annual taxes.
There may be other tax deductions you're eligible for too, so be sure to talk to your tax advisor.
