Episode 7 | Behind Every Rookie

Here’s something this rookie has figured out pretty quickly…

You better have good people in your corner.

Because behind every confident showing, signed contract, answered question, and “Yep, I’ve got this”…

There’s probably been at least one:

“HELP.” 😅

Yeah, you’re right…more than one. 🤣

One of the biggest blessings of starting this career has been realizing I didn’t have to figure it all out alone.

I landed at Coldwell Banker Premier, and the support I’ve received from my broker has been incredible. Not just training and resources, but actual people who want to see me learn, grow, ask questions, and succeed.

And then there’s Dawn Griffith Coldwell Banker Premier. 💙

My mentor, sounding board, question-answerer, occasional (okay frequent) voice of reason 😂 and one of the biggest supporters of this rookie dream.

Dawn has never made me feel silly for asking a question. She’s celebrated the little wins with me, talked me through the intimidating stuff, shared what she’s learned, and somehow manages to let me figure things out while making sure I know she’s right there if I need her.

That’s mentorship.

I’m learning that success in this business may have your name on the sign…but there are a whole lot of people standing behind that sign helping you get there.

So this episode isn’t really about what I’ve learned.

It’s about appreciating the people willing to teach me.

Episode 6 | Learning to Talk the Talk

Confession: I might be the most socially awkward social butterfly you’ll ever meet. 😂

I love people. I can talk to just about anyone. I’ll make a friend in the checkout line…but put me across from a client and tell me I need to sound like a Realtor?

Suddenly I’m wondering what normal people do with their hands. And did I really just say that? 😅

Early on, I thought every client conversation needed to sound real estate-y. Market stats. Interest rates. Inventory. Comps. Technical terms.

Basically, I was so worried about sounding like I knew what I was doing that I forgot something pretty important…I already know how to talk to people.

And I’m learning that the best conversations with clients aren’t always about real estate.

They’re about them.

Why are you moving?
What does the next chapter look like?
What are you excited about?
What’s keeping you up at night?
What would make a house feel like home?

Sometimes the best real estate conversation barely feels like real estate at all. It’s just people talking about life…and figuring out where a house fits into it.

I’m still learning the technical stuff. I’m still building confidence. And sometimes I’ll absolutely say, “I don’t know, but I’ll find out.”

I’m learning I don’t need a bunch of fancy real estate jargon.

I can just be Ashley.

Socially awkward. Social butterfly. Slightly over-caffeinated. Genuinely invested in people. 💙🤍

Turns out, I don’t need to sound like a Realtor. I just need to keep working to become a really good one. 🏡
