I ASK QUESTIONS BECAUSE I AM DONE BUILDING ON ASSUMPTIONS
I used to think asking too many questions made me look difficult.
So I filled in the blanks.
I assumed people meant what I hoped they meant.
I agreed before I knew the cost.
I tried to help before I understood what help would require.
Then I ended up standing in the middle of somebody else’s plan wondering when it became my responsibility to make it possible.
Now I ask.
What does this actually involve?
Who is responsible for what?
What happens next?
What does it cost?
What documents are required?
What am I promising?
What happens if the answer changes?
That is not negativity.
That is the sound of a woman who has paid enough tuition to the University of Learning the Hard Way.
A good heart is beautiful.
A good heart with accurate information is safer.
