For those who do not know, my mom, Jeanne Shaw, was a Coldwell Banker real estate agent. It was more than just a job to her; it personified her perfectly, as she loved to help people. What better way to do that than to find them the house of their dreams? While she enjoyed assisting her clients, she also took pleasure in supporting her coworkers, many of whom were some of her closest friends.
This past Wednesday, I was invited to a Tree Memorial Ceremony at Emma Bayless Graham Park, organized entirely by her office of beloved coworkers. The event was led by her last mentee, Christy Adkins, and assisted by one of her closest friends, Mel Gray. The outpouring of love and admiration toward my mom was truly breathtaking, and I am deeply appreciative of everyone who set up the event and participated.
As I was leaving, I was told that this is the first tree that has been planted in memory of an individual, which makes it that much more special to me.
While that was one opportunity to celebrate my mom, I will be hosting a Celebration of Life for her on June 15th, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air (224 N Main St, Bel Air, MD 21014). What makes it even more special is that her birthday would have been three days later on June 18th. I would be truly honored for anyone to take time out of their busy day to help me celebrate my mom.
