As we head into 2021, my goal is to make this my best year yet! In order to do this, I need your help. There is a very common misconception of the amount of money that realtors make. Most people do not realize that realtors are actually self-employed and are, in fact, SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS. Realtors only get paid if they succeed in getting to the settlement table. Realtors are affiliated with a brokerage by law and may only be paid by the brokerage, and do not earn a salary. Realtors are commission only. Realtors must pay for all of their own expenses including:
*Monthly fees to their brokerage,
*Split a percentage of their sales commissions with their brokerage,
*All board affiliation membership dues,
*All continuing education expenses,
*MLS subscription dues,
*All marketing/advertising expenses for listings as well as for their business,
*Professional photography and signage for their listings,
*Office supplies,
*Gas mileage, etc.
Additionally, a realtor spends hours combing through listings for their potential buyers, showing homes, writing/negotiating contracts, attending inspections and coordinating the details of each real estate transaction in hopes of closing a particular transaction so they can get paid.
Where do you come in? Instead of going to a stranger for your next real estate transaction, please call me! Know that when you support my small business, you are not helping me pay for a second home at the beach, you are helping me pay for my son’s braces, you're making it possible to pay dues so my son can participate in extracurricular activities. Know that supporting me in my local business means everything to me! And, who is going to work harder for you than someone you already know and trust? Please, don't call a stranger for the biggest purchase you're ever going to make, support a small business owner instead! If you're not in the market, please consider referring me to family/friends/neighbors/colleagues.
