Let’s play a “game”…you decide; are Kitsap County (and others) code “enforcement” agents out of control and overreaching?
Residential 4 acre lot on a main hwy, work in question is hundreds of feet from neighboring lots and STOP WORK order was posted by a Kitsap County STORMWATER agent, after only 3 hrs of cleanup work, who only puts a first name initial along with their last name on the order AND the county office won’t tell you their name or give you their extension because they don’t want you to have direct contact with them to resolve the concerns. Instead they refer you to someone else who has not been to the property at all and of course no one is available to help resolve these concerns. This agent posted alleged code “violations” as:
1) unpermitted road approach?(see pic) simply cleared overgrown weeds and added large gravel to avoid creating mud over an EXISTING 18” steel culvert road approach the county themselves installed MANY years ago causing all the highway ditch stormwater to drain directly onto my property instead of installing additional culvert to carry the discharge to unused county owned land adjoining my lot.
2) driveway grading (see pics) again simply cleared away extremely thick blackberries that had overgrown EXISTING lower and upper driveways (note location of driveway and power pole in pic) and since when do you need to permit a driveway to access your own land when you’re NOT building anything nor affecting neighboring lots in any way!
3) Logging and “no DNR permits found”…WHAT? NO “logging operations” or tree removal to reach the threshold of needing a logging permit and what the hell would justify the need for a DNR permit?!!! A few pe**er pole alders in OLD driveway area in order to access MY property! Nothing close to 5,000 board feet or more of resale logs resembling a commercial logging operation!!!
Pure bu****it and waste of time on top of wasting a rare nice weather weekend to do this! 😡 This is a perfect example of how far county agents are overreaching their actual authority. Agree…disagree?
