Homeownership is the largest source of wealth for many. If you're facing home-buying hurdles, real estate agents who are Realtors and certified housing counselors can help you get there.

Attention Residents:

Notice from the Belfast Police Department
Summer Traffic Enforcement

May 31, 2023

This summer the Belfast Police Department has partnered with Maine Bureau of Highway Safety as part of a grant funded program aimed at reducing crashes through education and traffic enforcement. The program uses dedicated crash reduction patrols to conduct speed enforcement and educate drivers in areas of the city which see the highest volume of crashes annually.

Speed is one of the most common factors in most traffic collisions and using high-visibility speed enforcement is a proven way to reduce speeds, aggressive driving, and related crashes. Enforcement, together with a robust educational program, has proven to be an effective tool in changing driver behavior. Throughout the summer, the Belfast Police Department will be conducting speed enforcement patrols on various streets across the city with the highest rates of crashes. (Data for these locations was obtained through the Maine Crash reporting system). We would also like to remind drivers that during the summer, we see a significant increase in both bicycle and pedestrian traffic, and we want to keep them safe as well. If you have any questions or would like to see directed speed patrols on your street, please contact the Belfast Police Department at 207-338-2040 or email: [email protected]
