Still feeling the chill of winter? Here’s a warm tip for homeowners in Benton County.

As you plan for the year ahead, don’t forget to check if you qualify for property tax relief through Amendment 79.

This Arkansas constitutional amendment provides real savings for qualifying properties used as your primary residence:

• Up to $600 off your tax bill through the Homestead Tax Credit
• 5% cap on annual taxable value increases for homestead properties
• 10% cap for non-homestead properties
• A freeze on taxable value if you're 65 or older or permanently disabled

These protections can make a real difference in your yearly budget—and they’re just a few clicks or a phone call away.

Our dispatch center has received phone calls today about a scam. Callers have said the scammer leaves a voicemail and identifies themselves as a police officer. They tell you to call a specific phone number to pay the fine you owe or a warrant will be issued – pretty typical scam, right? However, when you call the phone number left by the scammer the recording says, “You have reached the Bella Vista Police Department Warrant and Citation Division.” The voicemail message continues and you can hear what sounds like a police radio in the background.
⚠️⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM. ⚠️⚠️
📞 Please call 479-855-3771 anytime if you are unsure about a voicemail or text message you receive. Dispatchers are on duty 24 hours a day and are always willing to help answer your questions.

PERMIT NOW REQUIRED for water heater change outs: Per the Arkansas Department of Health and state plumbing inspector Marty Harris, a permit and inspections are required for water heater change outs, starting September 2, 2024.

Electric heaters will require a plumbing permit and may require an electrical permit if there is modification or upgrading to the existing electrical circuit. Re-use of the existing wiring would not require an electrical permit.

Gas heaters will require a plumbing permit.

Minor repairs, such as for leaks in pipes, or replacement of fill valves, residential lavatory faucets, residential sink faucets and similar fixture trim and fittings that does not involve alteration of plumbing fixtures do not require a permit.

For questions, contact the city's permitting office at 479-268-4980.
