BELLAIRE DAM: THURSDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE

• Water levels at the Bellaire Dam are currently stable and there are indications that a downward trend is starting. However, in an abundance of caution due to the unpredictability of rain events, the “Ready” protocol for the Intermediate River area downstream of the Bellaire Dam remains in place.
• Bellaire Dam water levels will be monitored overnight.
• The Elk Rapids Hydrodam is currently stable.
• The Antrim County Road Commission is monitoring bridges.

The three safety protocols are:

Ready: When water is 12 inches below the top of the dam with levels rising 3 inches a day or more. Plan and/or pack in the event an evacuation becomes necessary. All residents and businesses on the Intermediate River downstream of the Bellaire Dam are advised to be packed for an evacuation. A “go-bag” should include medications and any important documents. Also recommended is securing outdoor items and moving valuables to higher levels.

Set: When water reaches 6 inches below the top of the dam, with water levels rising at a rate of 3 inches per day or levels rising 3 inches per day and predicted to top the dam within 48 hours. Prepare by packing and preparing your family, pets, and vehicle for potential departure.

Go: When water levels are 1 inch below the top of the dam with a high probability of topping it, with the potential for failure occurring. Follow evacuation orders; roadblocks may be installed around the perimeters.

Shanty Creek Resort is proud to announce a transition of ownership. Effective today, Shanty Creek Ski and Golf Resort, LLC has officially acquired the resort from Trinidad Resort & Club, LLC.

A staple in the community, Shanty Creek Resort has built its reputation on being a family-friendly, affordable year-round destination to recharge and reconnect, with a commitment to creating memorable experiences. Under new ownership, those traditions will remain firmly in place.

“We are grateful for the 20+ years of stewardship provided by Trinidad Resort & Club, LLC,” commented Andrew Reh, Shanty Creek Resort COO and General Manager. “Their dedication and commitment helped reestablish the resort as a respected destination within the Michigan and Midwest resort industry.”

The new ownership group brings a wide range of experience in development, food service, entertainment and property management, as well as resort and ski operations.
