I love, cherish, and take for granted the freedoms and liberty that we have in this country. The right to criticize our elected officials, the right to worship how i choose, the right to pursue all of my dreams with the only limitation being how hard I want to work.

But I HATE how expensive those freedoms and liberties are. The cost for my family to pursue those liberties is the blood of men and women who knew our country was worth fighting for.

Today we remember all of the men and women who have volunteered to put our freedoms and liberties above all even thier lives. Today we honor the men and women who have died on every continent of our world.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing moms out there. ❤️

As a husband, dad, and someone who spent years in emergency services, I can honestly say moms are some of the strongest people on earth.

Mothers are the ones who stay up all night when everyone else is sleeping. They worry quietly. They sacrifice constantly. They love unconditionally. Most of the time, they carry the weight of the family without ever asking for recognition.

To the moms working long hours, the stay-at-home moms, the single moms, the stepmoms, the grandmothers helping raise kids, and the moms who are struggling silently while still showing up every day… thank you. You are appreciated more than you know.

Today I hope you feel loved, valued, and celebrated for everything you do that often goes unnoticed.

And for those who are spending today missing their mom, struggling with loss, or wishing they could hug their mother one more time, my heart is with you too.

Take time today to make memories, make a phone call, give a hug, and remind the important women in your life how much they matter.

Happy Mother’s Day from my family to yours. ❤️

At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the armistice ended the fighting on the Western Front in World War I. The U.S. first marked this as Armistice Day; in 1954 it became Veterans Day, honoring everyone who has worn our nation’s uniform.

Because of your service, my family can practice our faith, speak freely about our leaders, build businesses we love, and watch our kids dream big—and mean it.

To every veteran and every military family: thank you for your sacrifice, your courage, and your example. We owe more than we can say.

Katrina taught me a truth I’ll never unlearn—we’re all the same when the storm hits.

I was 14 years old when Katrina hit. My family evacuated to the middle of nowhere Alabama. No phones. No internet. Just the local radio and TV, and none of it told us what we really needed to know. Did we still have a home? Was our family on the coast alive? Would Louisiana ever be the same?

I remember standing at a gas station, feeling lost, when we saw a car with Louisiana plates. My Dad, my Mom, and I lit up like kids on Christmas. We ran over to them and found out they were from our parish in Empire. We hugged complete strangers like they were long lost family. Just hearing their voices, just knowing someone from home was still standing, gave us peace and hope I still can’t fully explain.

That moment has stayed with me for twenty years.

Katrina was one of those defining times. It changed everything for Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. It brought pain, loss, and devastation—but also unity. For a while it didn’t matter what you believed, who you voted for, or the color of your skin. We were one people, holding each other up, rebuilding side by side.

It is tragic that it often takes heartbreak to remind us we are the same. But I’ll never forget that light in the darkness. And I still believe we can choose unity without waiting for disaster to force it.
