Parks to visit in Somerset County, NJ:
Colonial Park: - 144 acres of the Colonial Park Arboretum and Gardens offer sanctuary to many flowering trees and shrubs, evergreen, shade, and coniferous trees. Labeled and categorized, these trees are carefully divided into firs, maples, hackberries, ironwoods, false cypress, cedars, spruces, and pines, among the many other genera. Natirar Park- Spectacular property for light hiking and picnics.
It is a gorgeous property with many beautiful specimen trees, huge open fields, and the Raritan river meandering through. Several well-maintained trails, one flat, 2 with elevation and spectacular sunset views. Beautiful barns, and of course the mansion and fabulous 90-Acre restaurant.
Sourland Mountain Preserve- What a BEAUTIFUL hiking area! ️ Sourland is a beautiful escape from the hustle & bustle. It offers multiple trails that go far & deep into the magical forest! We went on many hikes & loved how diverse the hike was, including boulders, creeks, caves, moss-covered trees, lots of wild mushroom growth, & stunning views.
