This week was a first for me as a Realtor.

I helped three sellers close on their homes... and I wasn't at a single closing.

On Monday, my nephew and niece sold the very first home they bought together in Midland. It was such a special closing, but I was on my way home from a girls' weekend and couldn't be there in person.

On Thursday, we closed on a home in VBT for a seller I never even met face-to-face. Her story was heartbreaking. She had moved to North Carolina over eight years ago and rented out her home. Unfortunately, the tenants trashed the property, stopped paying rent for 15 months, and never paid the water bill. I was referred to her by a friend to help navigate the eviction process and get the home sold. The best part? She never had to make the trip back to Michigan because we arranged for a remote closing in North Carolina.

Then on Friday, we closed on another home in VBT for a friend I met at the gym years ago. She had traveled to Missouri to care for her sister following a bone marrow transplant. While she was there, her kids packed up the house, and we coordinated a remote closing so she could stay where she was needed most.

Normally, closing day means celebrating with photos at the title company, but this week there weren't any. It definitely felt strange not being there for any of these milestones.

What this week reminded me is that real estate is about so much more than buying and selling houses. Life keeps happening, and sometimes my job is simply to make the process as easy as possible so my clients can focus on what matters most.
