A year ago it was a capstone project. Today it’s a construction address.

April 25, 2025. Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. ACRE Program Group 2 Pitch Night. Our founder Marechiel Santos-Lang and her ACRE cohort — Leon Bettis and Sharon Johnson — came together for their capstone. That night marked the culmination of their training — a presentation of a fourplex permanently affordable housing concept they called The Valor Way Project. They won best pitch in their group.

May 30, 2026. We’re standing on the ground at Valor Way, on Madison’s south side. What started as a capstone has since evolved into two duplexes — four permanently affordable homes. We’re in pre-development, doing due diligence — and it’s real.

None of this happens alone.

Grateful to the ACRE program and the entire ACRE network — you don’t just train developers, you build community. To Leon Bettis and Sharon Johnson, collaborators from day one — we’re proud of what was built in that capstone and what it’s becoming.

To Kaba Bah — one of the most generous people in this network. We reached out, and you showed up. Thank you for being that person for us.

To the City of Madison and Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway — thank you for your leadership and commitment to more owner-occupied affordable housing. The grant funding support for ACRE and this project made this possible.

To the Madison Area Community Land Trust — thank you for the partnership and for being the model that makes permanent affordability possible. This project exists because of the foundation you’ve built.

We stand on good shoulders.

Most of all, we’re building this for the four families who will call these homes theirs — multigenerational, energy-efficient, and permanently affordable.

Proud alumni.

Vacant land today. Four families’ futures tomorrow.

We’re building four permanently affordable homes on the south side of Madison — in partnership with the Madison Area Community Land Trust with funding support from the City of Madison, Wisconsin.

This is my first development project as lead developer. And I’m taking you with me.

Proud alumni.

August 26 is Women’s Equality Day—celebrating the importance of the women’s suffrage movement and the ongoing fight for equal rights.

We have registered for the Worth. Wealth. Women webinar, sponsored by the Women's Affordable Housing Network!

It’s time to close the confidence gap in investing and wealth-building. Let’s make smart investments, build wealth with purpose, and empower women to build housing, opportunity, and equity for our communities. Sign up for this free event!

Women’s Equality Day is a powerful reminder that equality isn’t just about having a seat at the table—it’s about owning the table, investing in others, and shaping the future. For too long, women have been left out of wealth-building and investing conversations. Not because we lack capability...

It is encouraging to read the news that the City of Madison celebrated the completion of six new affordable townhomes at the Theresa Terrace Neighborhood—

https://www.cityofmadison.com/news/2025-07-28/theresa-terrace-neighborhood-celebrates-completion-of-new-town-homes.

It’s a great reminder that progress is possible when we prioritize housing access and community-centered development.

At Anchorhaus Development, we share this commitment. Our focus is on building sustainable, affordable homes for multigenerational families, and first-time buyers across Dane and Green Counties.

Here is the powerful reality:
🔹 Nearly 50% of renter-households are cost-burdened, spending more than 30% of their income on rent.
🔹 Meanwhile, the supply of affordable homes for ownership is shrinking—especially for households earning 80% or less of the area median income (AMI).

That’s why our firm is the primary developer planning to bid on the next round of the City of Madison’s Affordable Homeownership RFP to propose a townhomes project designed for long-term affordability, energy efficiency, and family-focused living.

It’s inspiring to see the city move forward --we’re proud to be part of a movement that's building not just homes, but anchors for stability, equity, and generational opportunity.
