#4 of 35 Things to Do This Fall Around Omaha: Try One of Omaha's Best Burgers 🍔

There are few things better than that stretch of fall when it's cool enough to open the doors, but not so cold that we all retreat indoors until April.

So take advantage of it.

Head to Dinker's - Bar and Grill, grab a burger, find a football game on TV, play a little Keno and enjoy the cool air coming through the open doors.

And yes, the sign outside makes a pretty bold claim:

“OMAHA'S BEST BURGER.”

You'll have to decide for yourself.

Dinker's has been an Omaha neighborhood institution for decades, and if you've never been, fall is a pretty damn good time to fix that.

#3 of 35 Things to Do This Fall Around Omaha: Go to a High School Football Game 🏈

You don't need a kid on the team.

You don't even need a kid at the school.

Pick a high school. Find a Friday night home game. Grab a sweatshirt and go sit under the lights.

High school football is one of those things that just feels like fall.

The marching band. The student section. The concession stand. Parents yelling things at referees who absolutely cannot hear them. 😂

And around Omaha, you've got plenty of teams to choose from. Pick your neighborhood school, revisit your alma mater, or check out a school you've never been to before.

Grab a hot chocolate, buy something from the concession stand, and cheer for a bunch of local kids who have been working their asses off all season.

You might be surprised how much fun you have even when you don't know a single player on the field.

#2 of 35 Things to Do This Fall Around Omaha: Spend a Day—or a Night—at Mahoney State Park 🍂

Fall in Nebraska doesn't last nearly long enough, so when we get one of those perfect fall days, take advantage of it.

Head just outside the Omaha metro to Eugene T. Mahoney State Park in Ashland.

Hike the trails. Climb the observation tower. Pack a picnic. Bring the kids and make a day of it.

Or make a whole weekend of it.

Mahoney has both lodge rooms and cabins, and while fall weekends can fill up, it's always worth checking to see if there's an opening.

Because that photo?

That's the view from the lodge.

Get up early, grab something warm to drink, walk outside and watch the sun come up over the Platte River valley while the trees are changing.

Not a terrible way to spend an October morning.

You'll need a Nebraska state park permit to enter, and if you're thinking about staying overnight, check availability before you make the drive.

35 Things to Do This Fall Around Omaha: #1 🚲🌮

We're starting this series with one you have exactly ONE more chance to do this year.

The Bellevue Berry Farm Taco Ride.

Every Thursday during the season, cyclists make their way down the West Papio Trail to Bellevue Berry & Pumpkin Ranch for tacos, drinks and live music.

And when I say cyclists, I mean a lot of cyclists. Swipe to see what it looks like when everyone gets there.

A popular starting point is near Kros Strain Brewing Company, but here's the important part: you don't have to start there. You can hop onto the West Papio Trail wherever it makes sense for you and make your way to the Berry Farm.

Not sure where to turn? Put Bellevue Berry & Pumpkin Ranch into Google Maps and select the bicycle directions. It'll route you there.

And yes—you can absolutely drive there, too.

But biking there is half the fun.

This tradition was inspired by the original Taco Ride from Council Bluffs to Mineola, Iowa—which deserves its own post another day.

For now, don't wait on this one: the final Bellevue Berry Farm Taco Ride of the 2026 season is THIS THURSDAY.
