As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66, America’s most iconic highway, we’re reminded of the freedom, adventure, and opportunity that shaped our country. Known as the “Main Street of America,” Route 66 connected small towns to big dreams, stretching from Chicago to California and becoming a symbol of the American road trip.
Here in Nebraska and Iowa, we have our own piece of that history—the Lincoln Highway, America’s first transcontinental road established in 1913. Long before interstates, it connected communities coast-to-coast, bringing growth, travel, and new possibilities to the heartland. It’s more than a road—it’s where history, progress, and the American spirit meet.
