These watermelon skewers are perfect for your next backyard BBQ!

-In a large bowl, gently toss together two tomatoes cut and cored, sliced watermelon, cubed feta cheese, 2 tbsp of chopped mint, 2.5 tablespoons of lime juice, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and salt + pepper

-Cover and chill 30 minutes to 1 hour

-Thread 1 tomato piece, 1 watermelon cube, and 1 feta cube onto a skewer, and place in a serving bowl. Repeat with remaining skewers. Drizzle with remaining marinade, and serve immediately.

Myth!

The main reason sellers believe that selling their home “for sale by owner” (FSBO) is a good idea is because they think it will save them money. This is a common real estate myth, that sellers often learn to be untrue the hard way.

FSBO’s usually end up losing money by not hiring a professional real estate agent, if the deal even makes it to closing. This could be due to several different reasons.

Did the FSBO overprice their home and it didn’t sell for 6 months? Was the transaction mishandled, ending up in a buyer being declined after 3 months under contract? Did the FSBO not know how to negotiate the best price and terms for their home? Did the FSBO underestimate the cost of repairs they agreed to? Did the FSBO not understand the home would not pass bank appraisal? Did they understand the laws & contractual obligations? Opening yourself up for a lawsuit is never a good choice.

Real estate transactions are complicated. There are a seemingly endless list of issues that often arise and an experienced agent knows to get in front of potential issues before they become a problem.

What is the difference between pre-qualification and pre-approval?

1. Pre-qualifications give you an estimate of what you may be eligible to borrow. Pre-approvals tell you what you can ACTUALLY borrow.

2. A pre-approval requires thorough documentation. A pre-qualification does not.

3. A pre-approval requires a credit history check.

So here’s the scoop: A mortgage pre-qualification CAN be a first step to getting a mortgage if you are unsure if you will qualify—one that gives you a rough idea of how much you can borrow. Since the prequalification process is quick and easy, it can help you get the ball rolling, and start working with a lender.

You get pre-approved when you are ready to work with a real estate agent and to begin viewing homes. In fact, if you want any credibility as a homebuyer or your offer to even be considered by a seller, you need a pre-approval. Home sellers know how easy it is to get a prequalification—that’s why they don’t hold much weight.
