The transaction coordinator our company uses (The TC Masters the_tc_masters ) recently posted this ad for a company that sells "Virtual Transaction Coordinator" services.
I'm not saying that a virtual TC is incapable of doing the job, what I am suggesting is that there's a level of trust established between people who have worked together over a couple of transactions.
One of the responsibilities of the transaction coordinator is "document compliance", making sure that forms and contracts are are properly executed and filed. We will gladly pay the transaction coordinator a premium to ensure that our documents are "in compliance" and don't require a thorough review of every form or contract. I would not trust a call-center TC who I have never worked with to execute on the same level.
Another job of the TC is to make sure that deadlines are met and work is completed in a timely manner so our transaction closes on time. A Vrtual TC that has little knowledge of the nuances of the transaction cannot be trusted to keep all the balls in the air.
One of the questions you should be asking the agent that you sign on with is "Do you use a transaction coordinator and how long have you worked with that person". Their answer will tell you a lot about how much they trust that person's work and how much faith you can have in that relationship.
