This one calls for a BIG celebration! My incredible first-time home buyer took the plunge and bought her first home/investment property! Purchasing a duplex is such an incredible investment opportunity in our area & this one has much more potential than just the 2 doors that currently sit on this property. The cold weather is finally approaching the PNW and it is important to prepare your house for the cold weather. Below are helpful tips to prevent your home from having any problems while the cold weather is here

💧Clean Gutters- Make sure they are not blocked from debris (we just had a nice wind storm).

🚰 Outdoor spigot - make sure your outdoor spigots are covered and insulated.

🏠 Cover crawl space vents - keep it as warm down there as possible to avoid pipes from freezing under home.

🧊Insulate pipes - not really necessary but an added layer of protection especially if your home is older.

🌳Limb any branches that are hanging over your home- Cold weather, snow and wind will make it easier for these branches to snap and fall on the home

🚪Check Weather stripping - If weather stripping has deteriorated or there is none, will cause cold air to enter your home.

💠 Reverse ceiling fans - reversing your fan blades to spin clockwise & run on a low speed is said to gently circulate war air down from ceiling

🔥Make sure your fireplace is in working order. Good source of heat when the power goes out

💨 Smoke and CO detectors. Some are hard wired in. It is important to make sure the batteries are working especially if you are bringing in any gas or kerosene heaters (I don’t advise) when power goes out.

❄️ Pick up Snow Shovel and some De-Icer. I encourage a shovel over de-over. Some de-icer stains and ruins your driveway.

⛽Pick up gas for your generator - If you have one it is wise to be prepared to need to use it in the event of a wind or ice storm.

⚒️Get a weather survival kit. What is in it? Hand, body warmers, wool blankets, help sign and reflective triangle, matches, compass, whistle, thermometer, duct tape, and tissues.

🐥Heat your hummingbird feeder. There is a great item that plugs in and keeps your feeder from freezing. I picked mine up at Hardware Sales and it keeps them from freezing for the birds. This is the most crucial time to help our little friends stay alive. They run out of food in the winter months cause of the cold weather.

Feeling a bit cramped these past few years? Time to assess if you’ve outgrown your home. Here are 3 telltale signs its might be time for the next chapter in your home journey.

Is it finally time to move to a bigger home? Maybe! I put together 3 signs you may be ready to move into a bigger home, keep reading to find out!

1. Rainy days are making you stir crazy. No one has any space or privacy, and you find yourself thinking you would give anything for just one extra living space.

2. There have been several times in the last year you’ve chosen NOT to host something because you didn’t have the space. It’s not like you need the biggest, most boujee home in your city, but the size of your home shouldn’t keep you from living your life.

3. Your catch-all/home office/workout room is now also the baby’s room. I’m all about a good multi-purpose room, but it’s going to be hard for the baby to nap while you’re working out or on a zoom call.
